Introduction
This statement is made pursuant to Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps Mr Barnaby's Ltd has taken to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not occurring in our supply chains or in any part of our business. Mr Barnaby's Ltd is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our supply chains.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Mr Barnaby's Ltd operates in the pet food industry, providing natural dog treats. We source products/ingredients from the UK. Our supply chains include the sourcing of raw materials/ingredients, the manufacturing of products, and the transportation of goods to our locations.
Our Commitment to the Prevention of Modern Slavery
Mr Barnaby's Ltd is committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or any part of our business. We recognise that modern slavery encompasses forced labour, bonded labour, child labour, and human trafficking, and we take a zero-tolerance approach to these practices. Our approach is informed by internationally recognized standards, including the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
Policies and Procedures
We have implemented the following policies and procedures to mitigate the risks of modern slavery in our business and supply chains:
Supplier Code of Conduct: All suppliers must adhere to our Supplier Code of Conduct, which prohibits the use of forced, bonded, or child labour and outlines expectations regarding working conditions, wages, and ethical practices. The code requires suppliers to comply with all applicable local and international laws and standards.
Due Diligence and Risk Assessments: We conduct due diligence and risk assessments on our suppliers and business partners to evaluate modern slavery risks in our supply chains. This includes assessing the geographical and sectoral risks associated with modern slavery and ensuring that all new and existing suppliers meet our ethical standards.
Training and Awareness: We provide training to relevant employees to raise awareness of modern slavery and human trafficking and to ensure that our staff can identify and report any concerns. This training is particularly focused on procurement and supply chain management teams.
Whistleblowing Policy: We encourage all employees, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery or human trafficking through our whistleblowing procedures. All reports are treated seriously and confidentially, with appropriate investigations conducted.
Supplier Audits: We periodically audit key suppliers to ensure compliance with our Supplier Code of Conduct and assess their practices regarding labour standards, including the prevention of modern slavery.
Risk Assessment and Management
We acknowledge that certain sectors and regions may present higher risks for modern slavery. Our risk management process includes evaluating the nature of the goods and services we procure and the regions in which our suppliers operate. Where risks are identified, we engage directly with suppliers to mitigate these risks or seek alternative sourcing options.
Performance Indicators
We use key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the effectiveness of our efforts in combatting modern slavery, including:
The number of supplier audits conducted.
The number of employees trained on modern slavery issues.
The number of reports raised through the whistleblowing process and the outcomes of those investigations.
Future Steps
To further strengthen our approach, Mr Barnaby's Ltd is committed to:
Continuing to develop training programmes to raise awareness of modern slavery within the company and among our business partners.
Enhancing our due diligence processes to identify and address modern slavery risks at earlier stages of supplier engagement.
Board Approval
