Checklist For A New Dog

Checklist For A New Dog

Bringing home a new dog can sometimes be daunting but for the most it is extremely exciting. Walking through the door with your new four-legged best friend can seem like a breeze…as long as you are prepared and have everything you need to go on your new adventure with your furry pal.

We have compiled a short list of what we feel are must-have items and must-do tasks, which will help with the first few days and weeks of looking after your new dog:

  • Potty training pads (for puppies)
  • Dog treats/rewards (to assist in training)
  • Collar, lead and adjustable harness (if needed)
  • A name/ID tag (with your name, contact details and address on there)
  • Dog coat (for those chilly morning walkies)
  • Food and water bowls
  • Poo bags
  • A dog crate (if you are planning to train your dog via this method)
  • Food puzzles and games
  • Dog toys (pull ropes, tennis balls, snuffle mats and more)
  • Pet insurance
  • Register with vet practise

There is a small list of tasks and items that we felt were a necessity when taking your new pooch home with you, to ensure you and them both have an excellent and safe start to your chapter together.
